In this charming village, the Seine takes on a surprising vigour, especially as its source is not very far away. The bridge was built in the 18th century, but underwent some alterations in 1996. Further on, a magnificent water wheel is still in operation, but has lost its original purpose: from the 19th century until the 1950s, it supplied natural energy to a sawmill and a carpentry. The streets and alleys of Aisey-sur-Seine are adorned with plaques made by a local craftsman with stones from the Beaunotte quarry in the Châtillon region.
