This neat village is known for its famous sombrero pinta'o elaborated here, a typical hat from the interior that was inscribed in 2017 as part of Unesco's intangible cultural heritage. A festival is held in its honor in October. Another festival is the Carnavalito ("Little Carnival") which takes place a week after the official carnival. The origin of La Pintada's name ("The Painted One") comes from the fact that, in the past, people from the mountains would come down to stock up in a brightly-colored grocery store, the only painted house in the village ! The village is 20 minutes from Penonomé. Buses run frequently from 6am to 7pm, getting off at the church or soccer field.
