Welcome to Ikaria!Aghios Kirikos is the capital of the island and one of the two ports of Ikaria - the other main port is on the north coast, in Evdilos. With its 2,400 inhabitants, it is the largest city of Ikaria, which concentrates all the businesses and administrations. You will appreciate its houses with flowered balconies which are spread out on the hillside: you have to get lost a little bit in the streets to find the flavor of the city which otherwise does not enjoy a great architectural interest. Behind the imposing mass of the church of St. Cyr and St. Juliet, which dominates the whole, you can visit a small but interesting archaeological museum, which contains objects dating back to Neolithic times (free entrance, capricious opening hours, contact: +30 22750 23878). The city is a good base to discover the south coast of the island and its most famous beaches, such as the Seychelles beach.
