This small village has managed to preserve the character of its old houses, despite the tourist development. It gives access to some of the most famous beaches of Ikaria (but also the most dangerous: be very careful when the north wind blows, there are tragedies every year because of the currents). The beaches of Livadi and Mesakti are the most popular and festive, while the beach of Nas, 4 km to the south, is more popular with nudists and nature lovers. A hike allows to reach a waterfall by going up the bed of the Chalari river. The trail then climbs to the village of Christos Rahon.
