The harbor village doesn't stretch out along the pier or the seafront, but rather high up along a single thoroughfare. Koufounissi seems to turn its back on the sea, as if to ignore it. Of all the villages in the Eastern Cyclades, it is the most "lively", with a post office and a few stores. As a result, many Greeks have bought plots of land here and are building houses, which they scatter around the harbour. A few minutes up the coast to the north-west from the harbour, you'll find the pretty bay of Parianos, with its small harbour, beach and a few tavernas. A few minutes along the coast on the other side, you'll find Harapokou, a tiny village about 1 km southeast of the port with nothing but a few rooms and a tavern offering a lovely view of the sandy beach. On the other side of the island, you'll find rooms for rent in the village of Finikas. The road leads there, but you can also get there by caïque: a beautiful beach, tavernas serving delicious fish soup and an artisanal discotheque await you in the calm of this village.
