Part of its territory consists of the former Jolliet and Saint-Étienne seigneuries. In 1875, the arrival of the Lévis and Kennebec railroad and the construction of a sawmill propelled its development. In 1895, the municipality of Saint-Maxime parish was created, in honor of Abbé Maxime Fillion, the parish's first native priest, and it was not until 100 years later that it took the name Scott, after one of the railroad's builders. Today, visitors come here for the La Cache à Maxime resort or to visit the Woodooliparc theme park, which features a variety of worlds, including dinosaurs.
