La Descubierta is known for its balnearío, Las Marias, full of fresh water (not very well maintained!). The sound of the merengue resounds in the evening in the bars around. If you want to spend more than a day visiting Lago Enriquillo (which can be worth it!), you can choose to spend the night here. In this sleepy agricultural town, with several abandoned buildings, tourism has not developed much, so hotels are rare and often modest. The village has for undeniable asset its proximity with the lake. The stop of the guaguas (mini buses) is on the main street, calle Gaston Deligne.
