At the junction of two navigable rivers lies this pretty little traditional village, with a Zoque population of 2,000, 70 km south of Villahermosa. It is famous for its natural parks with caves and waterfalls (Villa Luz and Kolem Jaa), for the power of the birds singing at the end of the day and for its wicker crafts (furniture, baskets, hats, etc.). Its alleys and its central square are to be discovered. The ritual fishing of the sardina ciega (blind sardine) has been practiced here since time immemorial. 15 km away is the village of Oxoloán, seat of the main convent of the region in colonial times.
