The French architecture of the little town makes it unique in the whole region: the main remains are the magnificent museum, the municipal palace, the mutualist society and the wooden houses of the former French mine workers. Not forgetting the emblematic church designed and built in pieces by Gustave Eiffel's workshop (or one of his contemporaries...).The mine remained in operation until 1954, when it was considered exhausted. An important exodus follows and it is the Mexican government which, in 1957, impels again an exploitation which will end with its last reserves in 1972
