Founded on June 24, 1569, the city of Villahermosa, without being really beautiful, is however pleasant in its simplicity, especially when compared to the big artificial tourist cities of Yucatán or elsewhere. Capital of the state of Tabasco, this hot and humid city deserves a stopover to visit the famous La Venta Park, where you can see the original and legendary Olmec giant heads. It is also the state's traffic hub.
