To the south, on the same road to Zamora, 200 km from the capital, the village of Gualaquiza is wedged between the rivers Zamora and Bobonaza. It is a charming stopover, not very frequented by tourists, known as the Paradise of the Ecuadorian Amazon. Rios, waterfalls and exuberant nature are the reason. The church, located in the central square, has all the characteristics of a baroque church with a capricious architecture, typical of the popular colonial style. You can also visit the botanical garden, as well as the Remanso and Nueva Tarquí ruins. Gualaquiza is also the starting point for various adventure activities.
