Travel Guide Mahonda

Mahonda is a fairly large village in Zanzibar located in the north of the island, on the new main road between Stone Town (20 km) and Nungwi (40 km), inland. Between vast state farms, including sugar cane and spice plantations, this authentic village is the centre of intense rural activity thanks to its lively market. Many people on the roadside, on foot, by bike or by moped. If you turn off towards Kinyasini (the big local town in the north of the island with very few tourists), you will pass through the centre of the village. This road is bad in the rainy season on this section.
