Bububu, a name that makes you chuckle when you drive by, is located 9 km north of Stone Town on the old road leading to Nungwi, where the island's first sultan's palaces once stood, enjoying an exceptional location on rocks facing the sea. There are several hotels and ruins to visit. Above all, it's an important dala dala station for connections all over the island. Nearby is a spice farm worth a visit. The road here was abominable, but has now been rebuilt as an alternative to the new Nungwi road which runs further east.
