Gwaai is located 247 km from Bulawayo on the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls highway. It is one of those small dusty towns where a gas station or a colonial-style hotel suddenly breaks the monotony of a major road. Located in the center of a former cattle ranching area, it is now at the heart of private safari territories. As a town (shouldn't it be called a village?), Gwaai is of little interest except that it is within reasonable distance of Hwange Park and some of the lodges and camps. Buses between Bulawayo and Victoria Falls can drop off passengers at Gwaai.
