At 960 meters above sea level, it is the capital of the Comarca de Els Ports. Surrounded by walls, the village is built at the foot of the ruins of the castle hanging on the top of a big rock. The gates of San Miguel and San Mateo allow access to the old town. Inside, the streets wind up the hill in semi-circles. The main street is Calle Blasco Alagón, recognizable by its porticos, handicraft stores, and butcher shops. The quality of local life, the hospitality of its inhabitants and the beauty of this medieval setting make it well worth the detour to the very northwestern tip of this community.
