Among the beach towns to the south of the City of Angels, Manhattan Beach stands out for its relaxed atmosphere - very much focused on surfing and beach volleyball - and its charming little center, organized around Manhattan Beach Boulevard, at the foot of the pier. The town is on the route of The Strand, the bike path that links Will Rogers State Beach - in Los Angeles, north of Santa Monica - to Torrance State Beach - south of Redondo Beach - in almost 30 km. Manhattan Beach can be reached by car in around 30 minutes from Downtown Los Angeles - just under 35 km. A nice stopover for unhurried travellers!
