Islands are always magical. Often bordering the continents, they are distinguished by their particular vegetation. Catalina is no exception to that rule. It is a small Mediterranean territory in the heart of the Pacific. The printing is only fleeting, but the dimensions, perspectives and colours are from another continent. The character of Catalina and its island sweetness attract American tourists as well as travelers passing through California. The two main communities on the island are Avalon and Two Harbors. The bay of the small town of Avalon is beautiful and was the setting for some of the shots in the film The Bounty Rebellions, Oscar for best film in 1936. Don't miss the tour of the casino. The island is populated on all its coasts; you can spend a few hours or a day there. You can stay in one of its many hotels, or camp there.
The island is one of the eight that make up the Channel Islands archipelago off the coast of Los Angeles, but it is not part of the Channel Islands National Park, which includes only five of the eight islands facing Ventura.
