You only need to take a few steps through the Osh bazaar to understand the origin of the name of the country's second-largest city. Shopkeepers pushing wheelbarrows overloaded with bread, pieces of meat or fabrics make their way through the compact crowd, shouting "Osh! Osh!" Yet legend attributes another, far nobler origin to it (see History below). Today, tourists visit the city for its bazaar, one of the largest in Central Asia. And it's to pray on the sacred hill of Suleiman (Solomon) that pilgrims flock from all over Central Asia.
