Mahaxai village is located 50 km east of Thakhek. Located on the Thakhek loop circuit, the road to get there is beautiful and the scenery alone is worth the trip: you can admire the cliffs, karst mountains and limestone formations of Khammouane, a protected area, along the Xe Bang Fai River. The various caves of Mahaxai are the main tourist attraction of the area. The most accessible ones are frequented on weekends by locals who come to picnic. Count on a good day of visit to fully enjoy the different sites.
