The small wooden bridge that allowed access to the abbey by payment gives the tone of the decor. It is from Sigmaringen that the Danube is navigable for light and flat boats. Jules Verne in his novel The Pilot of the Danube is the beginning of the journey of his hero, Ilia Brusch, a fisherman who takes the challenge of going down the river by living only fishing. But over time and water, one discovers his true identity, that of a Bulgarian patriot, Serge Ladko, forced to flee the Ottoman invasion.
