Located in the canton of Wiltz, the commune of Winseler is endowed with important green spaces. As a result, the majority of the local population is engaged in agricultural activities. Originally, the name of Winseler comes from the name "Winizo", the patronymic of a presumed Frankish prisoner of war who settled on the site of the present village. The first mention of the village ("Winzelar") dates back to 1310. Winseler is strongly linked to the lordship of Wiltz and, in the 15th century, is part of the provostry of Bastogne. In the 19th century, the municipality experienced an economic and industrial development thanks to the construction of the Ettelbrück-Bastogne road and the railroad line
