With a population of only 200, this small community is located at the end of Highway 63, about 60 kilometres northeast of North Bay. It sits on the banks of the Ottawa River, which separates it from the town of Témiscaming, Quebec. A bridge connects the two communities and allows you to visit the Opémican National Park on the Quebec side. The park features exceptional forest ecosystems and beautiful scenery, as well as a heritage site with a history of log driving. In Thorne, we recommend The Algonquin Canoe Company for adventures with an aboriginal flavour.
