In 1935, prospectors discovered gold, and the town grew rapidly. Immediately, the forest, the second natural force, saw the arrival of the clearers. From these resources came commerce, industry and tourism, in short, life. To relive the gold rush, head to the Cité de l'Or to discover the Lamaque mine, once the richest gold mine in Quebec. A trip to Malartic is also worth the detour to learn more about the subject. Other points of interest: the 18-metre high Rotary Tower in Belvedere Park and the Russian Orthodox Church built in 1954 at the corner of Lamaque and Sigma boulevards.
