Tepoztlán is a village located 18 km northwest of Cuernavaca, which comes alive on weekends around its large market, when a colorful crowd arrives to escape the capital for a weekend or a day. Surrounded by an impressive mountain range, you can visit the former Dominican Convent of La Natividad, the Museo Arqueológico Carlos Pellicer, and the Tepozteco pyramid on top of a mountain. If you like quiet places, you should spend the night in Tepoztlán rather than in Cuernavaca. Nearby, the village of San Juan Tlacotenco offers even greater views and the village of Amatlán offers beautiful walks.
