Perched at 1755 meters above sea level, Taxco ("place of the ball game" in Nahuat) or its full name Taxco de Alarcón, is a small colonial town of baroque style with cobblestone streets, mainly known for its goldsmith stores. It was named Pueblo Magico in 2002 because of its rich culture and for its sublime and authentic attractions. It is very pleasant to stroll along its streets using the two bell towers of the Santa Prisca church as a landmark. These guide travelers to the Zócalo from where the beautiful white Volkswagen Beetles (cabs) depart to the heritage treasures of the region
