On the north-western edge of the state, on the road that leads to Ojuelos in the state of Jalisco and then to Aguascalientes, here is an archaeological site dominated by the foothills of the Cordillera de Santa Barbara. It would be part of a larger and still unknown cultural group called Tunal Grande (200-900 AD), generally associated with the current state of San Luis Potosi, which also maintained exchanges and relations to Zacatecas, Aguascalientes and Los Altos de Jalisco. The Cerro del Coporo, a purapecha term meaning "on the long path", gives the name to this archaeological area that extends from its feet to its summit.
