Located on a cape south of Charlottetown, Rocky Point, a former settlement, is best known for the Skmaqn-Port La Joye-Fort Ahmerst National Historic Site, the site's main attraction. Managed by Parks Canada, this historically significant site is where a Mi'kmaq community spent their summers before the first European settlement moved in in 1720. When the British took control of the area in 1758, French and Acadian settlers were deported here. There is not much left of this past except for a few vestiges. But the place remains pleasant, with 6 km of trails, and access is free.
