The large estuary of the LaHave River, with wooded banks and houses dotted with huts, is a long time before crossing the river, up to Bridgewater, a dynamic Industrial location on both sides of the river. Highway 331 leads to LaHave, a large village of fishermen with a special spirit where the bakery is not foreign. By making homemade breads with regional products, it contributes greatly to local activity. And baker and baking are formidable storytellers: they will tell you that this little city was christened LaHève in 1604 by Champlain and Du Gua de Monts, that it was capital of Acadia (from 1632 to 1636) and a vibrant port that housed the first school founded in Canada in 1632. So many episodes raised at Fort Point Museum on Highway 331, a fort built to protect the small colony. The beaches are superb: We will explore the quiet hamlets of fishermen in the colorful houses of the islets of LaHave and De Bay, stroll on the fine sandy beaches of Crescent Beach and Rissers Beach provincial park, with camping (26 km south of Bridgewater by Highway 331).
