This small village has about thirty permanent residents. But every year, it attracts thousands of visitors. Until 2009, you could send postcards from the only post office in the world located in a lighthouse. Moreover, this lighthouse is undoubtedly the most photographed in the country. If it is so well known around the world, it is because of a sad event. On September 2, 1998, Swissair Flight 111, flying from New York to Geneva, crashed off Peggy's Cove, killing 215 passengers and 14 crew members. The images of the lighthouse and the village went around the world.
