Continuing towards Santa Catarina, 7 km after Neves, is the site where the Portuguese first landed in São Tomé in 1470. Today, a monument stands alone in the middle of a square shaded by badam trees, pruned to spread out. It is a peaceful place to walk around, offering a nice view of the sea. It is reached via a small path after a large tree that opens the road, in whose shade tired motorcyclists often rest. Under the badam trees, there are concrete tables and benches for picnics, while enjoying a beautiful panorama. The place is pleasant, but unfortunately lacks maintenance
