Pedernales is a seaside resort with a local and popular atmosphere, almost teeming on weekends, especially on Sundays and market days. The town was one of the places most devastated by the 2016 earthquake. But the town has gradually rebuilt itself. Early in the morning, fishermen unload their goods on the long grey sandy beach, which, it must be said, lacks a little charm (and sometimes maintenance!). Along the beach, a few restaurants welcome customers under large palm roofs; small wooden gargotes adorn the Malecón and offer fruit and tropical cocktails. On Sundays, people come to eat with their families and friends to enjoy a ceviche facing the ocean. It's a far cry from the dreamy beaches of the Pacific, but it's still a great place to stop for visitors who want to immerse themselves in a muy local atmosphere
