It is a small agricultural town of Santa Rosa located on the CA2, 50 kilometers east of Escuintla. Dominated by the Tecuamburro volcano, Taxisco is a place where buses pass by on their way to Chiquimulilla and the Salvadoran border. Before the Puente de Iztapa was built, people used to pass through here on their way to Monterrico; nowadays, making the detour would not make sense. Nevertheless, if you have your own vehicle, the village can be a nice stop to fill up on cheese, which is famous nationwide. The reason: its quality and variety, from fresh to smoked to requesón - or ricotta.
