This small village to the north of Suzdal is the site of Yuri Dolgoruki's fortified palace (now gone) and a church dedicated to the saints (and brothers) Boris and Gleb. Dating from 1152, this church building became one of the first stone churches in all of northeast Russia, with its cube shape topped by a dome and its facade modestly decorated with a sawtooth frieze. According to the legend, the princes and saints of the Orthodox Church Boris and Gleb camped here on their journey to Kiev. All around the village there are beautiful landscapes with charming painted and carved houses.
