It is one of the largest in the Touroukhansk district in the Far north. The Yenisey is 15 km wide! The village was founded by the cossacks in 1636, on the order of the tsar who intended to grow wheat. The site owes his name to one of his earliest inhabitants, Ivan Vorogov.
