This tiny town is nevertheless an essential stop on the tour. In its streets, one has the impression of being suspended out of time: dotted with hundreds of churches, avoided by the railways and living from tourism and agriculture, the town has an old-fashioned charm that makes it a success with tourists and artists alike. The only industrial enterprise of the city is a factory of medovoukha, a honey-based alcohol. Moreover, more than 60 historical films have been shot here, including the famous Andrei Roublev by Tarkovski. Not to be missed: its museum of wooden architecture and the cucumber festival in mid-July!
