Twenty kilometres east of Pereslavl-Zalesski, on the asphalt road leading to the town, is the ancient village of Elizarovo, which is quietly disappearing from sight and memory: after centuries of existence, it now has only 41 inhabitants. A few metres along the road there is a beautiful 16th century church with a pyramid-shaped roof. A little further to the northeast, behind the charming St. Nicholas Monastery, which peeks timidly through the trees, you can still see the medieval walls of the ancient town of Kleschine, which is also on the verge of disappearing into the annals of history.
