Boutique-hotel in Bruges in a stately home with an outdoor terrace and whirlpool baths.
The Vanhaecke family has renovated a canal-side stately home into a sublime boutique hotel. The glass roof with its houseplants and books is marvellous, as is the lounge with its wide sofas. Or the riverside terrace, ideal for watching the swans over tea or cocktails. The contrast between antiques and designer furniture is a great success, while the rooms are superbly equipped, with hydromassage bathtubs. Breakfast is sumptuous, with everything prepared to order.

This has to be the best choice for a luxury hotel in Bruges, Belgium. With 5 star service and a palace-like lobby floor plan with canal terrace to boot, it’s top notch and a perfect home away from home while enjoying the sights of Bruges. If you like private, this is your place.
If the hotel is not listed as a 5 star, it’s only because it may be lacking some amenities such as 24 hour room service. It’s a boutique 16 room mansion with lots of space to enjoy outside of the guest suites. Only guests have access to the restaurant, bar, lobby areas etc. We did have some family staying at a nearby hotel and were told they were welcome to come inside and we took advantage of the offer and had a drink with them on the terrace.
We travel as a family of three with a 4 year old who did well in the hotel and enjoyed what it offered. The lobby areas do have a lot of ornate items, charm and candles which may clash with young children.
As we were checking in, Benjamin said if you need anything in the middle of the night dial extension 300 because there will always be somebody here to help you. I assumed that person would be asleep, and that it would only be in an emergency since the hotel didn’t offer a room service during the overnight hours. Later, I found out that this extension 300 was to ring the room of the owner who is currently living on the property.
I will say, staying in a small boutique hotel that is privately owned, and has its owners living in it, takes away a tiny bit of ownership from the guest. Almost as if we felt we had to behave slightly differently than we would in a big corporation five star palace like Sofitel Grand Amsterdam where we stayed the nights before.
The owners were hard working, delivering perfect service and carry a love for their guests and the entire hotel.
This hotel is not in any way open to the public. It is incredibly private for you and any other guest. It’s beautiful, it’s fantastic and it absolutely has to be the best place to stay in Bruges, Belgium. Enjoy.

Nothing comes close to it. One of the most beautiful boutique hotels , classy atmosphere, high taste interiors, and a very appreciated personal customer service. It feels like they have you and only you to take care of. Very clean and tidy rooms, spacious and highly furnished.
The best at Bruges - Brugge and around
