DIAMOND MUSEUM BRUGGE

Bruges is the oldest diamond center in Europe, even though Antwerp is currently the most important diamond business center in Belgium. The Diamond Museum invites you on an initiatory journey into the world of this brilliant and precious stone, whose cutting was invented by the Bruges jeweler Lodewijk Van Berquem in the 15th century. His workshop is reconstructed and many documents and objects related to diamond work are displayed here. The thematic rooms detail "The Jewelry Workshop": how a diamond jewel is made, "21st Century Diamond Manufacturing Techniques": an example of polishing the 603-carat "Lesotho Promise" diamond, and "The Diamond Lab": how to identify the 8 different characteristics of diamonds yourself. A very interactive experience. Some magnificent stones and replicas of the 20 largest diamonds in the world punctuate the visit. For those who would like to make their dreams come true, the neighboring jewelry store, La Maison du diamant de Bruges, offers a beautiful collection of diamonds mounted in creations of various styles.

Demonstration of diamond polishing. Unique in the world, the Bruges Diamond Museum offers you a presentation of diamond polishing: unforgettable and unmissable! For a combined visit with this demonstration, it is every day at 12.15 pm with an additional demonstration at 3.15 pm every weekend and from Monday to Friday between 1/04 and 31/10.
