Japanese restaurant in Bruges with chefs Ivan Verhelle and Akihisa Kawakami offering grilled eel fillet.

Tanuki, when Belgium meets Japan! Chefs Ivan Verhelle and Akihisa Kawakami plunge us into a Japanese atmosphere that is as real as nature itself. Traditional clothes, a magnificent outdoor pool, a zen atmosphere, it is in a large open kitchen that you can see the chefs at work. Sashimi, sushi, tempura, bento, teppanyaki, everything is fresh, homemade and elaborated under your eyes! For the record, the tanuki is a Japanese raccoon considered as a lucky charm, bringing prosperity and fortune.

Great lunch with 8 of us ranging in age from 11 years to 89 years. As usual the food was excellent. The only unfortunate aspect of a dining experience at Tanuki in my opinion is the prices of their wine list. The cheapest bottle is around 50 euro which is very expensive. Most restaurants in Brugge have wine starting at around 20 euros. Otherwise it was great.
