As the agricultural and commercial centre of the southern slope of the Chaînon link, the city is famous mainly for having on its territory the ruins of the ancient Greek city of Sybaris (Sibari, in Italian). However, with its ochre houses planted on the mountain side and which appear to have been built by successive strata, Cassano lacks character and some of its monuments, such as the cathedral, are worth a glance. The heights of the surrounding area are suitable for beautiful hikes.
