It's here that we enter the "Finnish Arm", which runs between the Swedish and Norwegian borders in the extreme north-west of the country. On the road to the North Cape, this is Finland's third-largest municipality (8,464 km²), with just over 2,000 inhabitants! At the gateway to the Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, it is also ideally situated on the banks of the Ounasjärvi River. Reindeer husbandry continues to play an important role for the Saami people, who make up 17% of Enontekiö's population. The finesse of local handicrafts also deserves a closer look at this rich culture.
