Muonio is a supply point in north-western Lapland, on the border with Sweden, bounded by the Muonionjoki River and close to the famous Pallas-Ounastunturi National Park, home to one of Finland's most beautiful hiking trails. Halfway between Enontekiö (Hetta) and Kittilä, the municipality is well worth a visit, if only to find out about the many sporting activities on offer in both winter and summer. The tourist office is located at the bus station and offers tourist and nature information. Open daily from 10am to 6pm. Closed on Sundays in October and November.
