At the end of the town, a magnificent avenue of linden trees leads to one of the most beautiful Gustavian buildings, formerly the Court of Appeal, now the Korsholm church. The interior, very bright with its mixture of white and gold, is interesting. On the other side of the road, a granite cross stands on the site of Korsholm's fortress built around 1370 by the mysterious Bo Jonsson Grip. The inscription states that 'here in the pagan north the cross of Christ was raised'. Korsholm is also the venue for annual open-air theatre performances in July and for the chamber music festival that was established in 1983.
