This small town in the east of Yalta is home to the oldest wine cellar in Ukraine. It must be understood that the Crimea produces the best wines in the country, thanks to its geographical location and favourable climatic conditions. The idea of making Crimea a wine-growing region originated with Prince Potemkin. From 1823, he brought the best foot from France, Spain and Greece to plant them in the fertile land of the peninsula. Prince Golitsyne was named responsible for vineyards and the manufacture of wine by Alexandre III. Built in 1898, this wine cellar contains 1,50 high-grade barrels, and today the wine cellar, which is just a few metres away, produces dessert wines and wine wines.Massandra is also famous for its castle, the former palace of Tsar Alexander III, and for its 40 ha park where more than 250 varieties of plants grow.To get there. In Yalta, take trolleybus No. 2 or No. 3. In reality Massandra is only 3 km from the centre of Yalta and can be quietly reached on foot. If you leave the Lenina wharf, by the sea, then take the Massandrovskaia street to the lower park (Нижний парк). You will pass through the beautiful alleys of the park, the vineyards and reach the wine cellar (винзавод) of Massandra. North of the park is the Haute High (Верхняя Массандра) with the Palace of Alexandra III. It's a very nice excursion.
