The small town of Patillas, with a population of about 15,000, is distinguished by its small port nestled in a large bay. The town is home to a few surfers who come to surf on Inches beach, east of the town. To swim, head to Guardarraya beach. The water is calm and quite suitable for swimming, but the narrow stretch of sand will disappoint those who plan to play on the beach. For accommodation, you can head to Finca Corsica. Pushing north on Highway 181, Patillas Lake offers a lovely setting and two waterside restaurants (Aqui and El Campo for the most popular).
