RESTAURANT DE L'HÔTEL DE VILLE

French cuisine restaurant €€
4.7/5
3 reviews

A must-see in Fribourg, this establishment was taken over a few years ago by Frédérik Kondratowicz, a Franco-Swiss chef promoted to Gault & Millau Romand de l'année in 2011: a lover of books and art who makes the restaurant his home. In a popular brasserie atmosphere at lunchtime and a more intimate, distinguished atmosphere in the evening, he offers refined, generous cuisine, always with a touch of originality. Beautiful view of the lower town and cathedral.

CAFÉ DU GOTHARD

World cuisine restaurant
4.5/5

Warm and authentic! It was Jean Tinguely's Fribourg canteen and that of the Fribourg gotha. A small, inexpensive kitchen: well-filled perch fillets, egg cheese crust and rich salad, excellent rösti, melting fondues, stews and calf's head, ham from the milestone, etc. The walls tell the story of the local history of the region: testimony of politics and above all unusual objects such as La Wassmer-veilleuse, a kinetic sculpture created by Pascal Bettex which animates the wall of the first room with movement.

LES TROIS TOURS

World cuisine restaurant €€€

Alain Paillereau took over the reins of this restaurant in 2021. You're in a house dating back to 1839 in the delightful Bourguillon district, just a few minutes from the center of Fribourg. The chef trained with Éric Frechon, Anne-Sophie Pic and Michel Troigros. He was awarded a Michelin star in 2022. The cuisine gives pride of place to local producers, whether for fish, fruit, vegetables or condiments. The service, of course, matches the setting. The terrace, shaded by chestnut trees, is an inviting place to stroll and enjoy a cup of coffee.

CAFÉ DES ARCADES

Bistro and brasserie
5/5

Open since 1861, this beautiful wooded brasserie has not lost its old-fashioned cachet (old bistro counter). Well-prepared French and Italian dishes are served, such as asparagus ravioli gratin or Gotteion trout filet, and of course game dishes in the fall. In the afternoon, you can enjoy the warm and relaxed atmosphere of the terrace. In the evening, you can attend concerts, DJ evenings or football matches on the big screen. It is a real institution in Fribourg.

AUBERGE AUX 4 VENTS

French cuisine restaurant
5/5
1 review

In a country and bucolic atmosphere, the Auberge des 4 Vents offers a choice of dishes. Of very high quality, the dishes are chosen according to the season. In autumn, we appreciate the hunting menu with candied deer cheeks, in summer the vegetables and fish. The recipes are homemade and you can see the love of cooking in every bite. In the summer, the veranda opens onto the beautifully flowered park and you can enjoy a long lazy day while finishing your meal with a coffee and a good dessert. To keep the pleasure going, the hotel welcomes you.

CAFE DU MIDI

Bistro and brasserie

In one of the oldest pints in Fribourg, regulars come to share one of the local specialities: fondue. Since 1877, it has been served here with all sorts of sauces, with herbs, truffles, goat's cheese... The entrecote with Provençal butter is also a must in the bistro. Don't forget to finish your meal with a meringue with double Gruyère cream. All the dairy flavours of Switzerland are represented in the Café's copious dishes. A pleasant atmosphere with a wooded decor

L'AIGLE NOIR

Swiss restaurant €€

Restaurant and wine bar (mainly organic), this chic establishment offers a superb view of Fribourg's old town and the Pre-Alps from the veranda. The menu is simple but effective, with different dishes prepared each day according to the season. Having a meal here is also meaningful, since half the team is made up of people in difficulty or on the road to reintegration. They are fully supervised by catering professionals, forming a very friendly team.

RISTORANTE BINDELLA

Italian restaurant and pizzeria €€

The Bindella restaurant, located in Fribourg's old town, is a reference for lovers of southern Italian cuisine. A fine choice of antipasti and pasta dishes, and for secondi, a fine selection of refined Italian fish and meat dishes. Lemony veal ossobuco with polenta and the famous rosemary-crusted cockerel with baked potato are among the house classics. This is an excellent address from every point of view: the setting, the welcome and the service are all very well looked after. You'll have a great time.
