Travel Guide Palé

The inhabitants of Palé still live to the rhythm of the cult of the ancestors. This small village is located about twenty kilometers from Macenta, but the access track is bad, and it takes about 1h30 of 4 x 4 to reach it. To get there, you have to cross a small bridge made of lianas and then go along the sacred forest, defended by masks and statues that embody the spirits of the elders, and which are intended to protect the place. The village is in the purest style of the forest. Its inhabitants are remarkably hospitable; if you spend a few nights there, you may have the chance to see the Nyamou, a famous mask of the region.
