The village of Bossou is nestled in the heart of primary and secondary forests, or at least what remains of them. The surrounding hills, including Mount Gban which overlooks them, are part of the fully protected area of the Nimba Mountains, classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The massif of Mount Nimba, which rises to more than 1,700 m, appears in the background as soon as you approach Bossou. The village is well known in the region for a group of chimpanzees that has been living nearby for over twenty years. It is not uncommon to see them in the vicinity of the city center. So we come to Bossou to meet them.
