Located close to the Berlin-Poznań road, Międzyrzecz makes an interesting day trip. It's a charming little provincial town with an undeniable cachet, home to a number of fine monuments and a picturesque old town that's well worth a stroll. Its site, on an ancient fortress, is still recognizable despite the disappearance of the walls. Międzyrzecz is an excellent starting point for exploring the region and its sights. It's more convenient to be motorized to enjoy it, but you can get there very well by train or bus from Poznań (two-hour journey on average).
