In this hamlet by the sea, Knut Hamsun worked from the age of 15 as an apprentice in the old village grocery store. The shop has retained its old-fashioned charm, but has been converted into an art gallery with a permanent exhibition of prints by Karl Erik Harr illustrating Hamsun's best-known works. The house next door, Edvarda's lovely guesthouse, has also remained unchanged. But Horst Tapper, the late star of the German TV series Derrick, had a holiday home built here. From his 140 square metre property, he enjoyed a magnificent view of Vestfjord and the Lofoten Islands.
